Thaddaeus Koroma may spend the majority of the year on the road, building his online monetization business, IPM2, but getting to that point wasn’t easy. 

Like most start-ups, Koroma had trouble finding funding.

“In 2014, one investor told me that he will never put a lot of money in a black person’s hand,” said Koroma. 

The statement quickly drove him to push even harder, and now Koroma’s businesses continue to have exponential growth ever since hitting that first million years ago, not long after that investor told him “no.”

“Money doesn’t lead, it follows,” said Koroma, who credits his tenacity to growing up in a single-parent household in Berlin, often struggling with poverty. He learned early to “take disadvantages and turn them into advantages.” He also said sports taught him to think unconventionally and go the extra mile.

I had the opportunity to ask Koroma more details about his travels in this interview:

EM: What strategies do you use in planning your travels that allow you to work remotely?

TK: “As they say, be at the right place at the right time. I strategically plan my life and travel around the hottest cities and events. From the Amfar Gala in Cannes to the Gran Prix in Dubai to the Oscars in Los Angeles, I attend every significant global experience to insure the best network growth. This strategic travel schedule has allowed me to gain international clients and create equity deals with big celebrities and influencers. Traveling helped make new connections and brought global awareness to my brand and companies.”

EM: How do you manage your time on the road?

TK: “My life revolves around traveling. I don’t like to be away from home, so I basically made the world my home. I travel 10 months out of 12. I use my down time while traveling to develop new products. I take advantage of that time to connect with my worldwide network. My number 1 advantage is my phone because it puts me in a position where I never have down time. I can virtually handle all of my business from my hand.”

EM: What advice can you give to those who want to have the freedom to travel for a living?

TK: “I work 100% remote through multiple digital business systems I have set up. The goal is always to create a profitable commercial company that works without you. The advice I would give is to change their business philosophy. Instead of focusing on the growth and money aspect first, focus on bringing massive value to your ideal customers, while setting your business in a way that it can run itself. You can do that by digitalizing what can be digitalized, building systems, and automize what can be automized.
